Chet's effortless playing style was extremely intimate and sensitive. His vocal work was delicate and relaxed, as was his trumpet playing. Highly regarded by his jazz musician peers Chet in many ways epitomised the West Coast jazz scene in the 1950s. Chosen by Charlie Parker for his West Coast gigs, Baker also Gerry Mulligan's group.
Chet continued to perform professionally right up to his untimely death.
